What is Reiki?

In Japanese, 'Rei' means 'spiritual essence common to all living beings';
'Ki' means 'energy' and also 'spirit' or 'consciousness' and so it is 'the Original force of all beings and phenomena. According to this, 'Reiki' is an unconditional energy common to all beings which heals the body, mind, spirit and soul.

Reiki Usui Shiki Ryoho is the Japanese name for 'Usui's Natural Healing Method with Reiki', taught by Usui Sensei in Japan at the beginning of the 20th century. Its origins are believed to be in ancient Tibetan healing practices and linked to Buddhist philosophy.

The Reiki Method is a natural healing technique for personal understanding, transformation and evolution. It heals the body, balances and calms the mind, harmonizes the emotions and cleanses the energies, while encouraging and supporting a process of spiritual awakening. All this by simply placing the hands on or off the body or anywhere else the intuition guides towards. The beauty of this method lies in its simplicity!

The Reiki method I teach is called Usui-Tibetan Reiki and is based on the traditional Usui Reiki methods with a Tibetan "twist". Clarity of intention, compassionate and unconditional giving are an essential part of the practice in this method, together with the understanding that in essence healing truly comes from the heart.  

Reiki Level 1
5 days (30 hours)

  - initiation/attunement to become a channel of Reiki

  - learn about the Reiki principles, guidelines, philosophy and practical application for daily life

  - learn to give yourself and others a treatment through hands-on/hands-off healing with proper touch

  - introduction to the Chakra System (energy centers) in the body

  - the course focuses on personal and group practice, exchange and discussion

Prerequisite for Level 1: none

Reiki Level 2
5 days (30-35 hours)

  - initiation/attunement for the 2nd level of Reiki

  - in-depth learning of the traditional Usui Reiki symbols, their meaning, their spiritual significance and practical uses

  - personal and group practice with the symbols though a variety of exercises and hands-on work

  - learn more about the Chakra System (energy centers) and archetype corresponcences

  - practical appplication of Reiki method for self-understanding, removal of blockages and deep personal healing and inner growth

Prerequisite for Level 2: Completion of Reiki Level 1 course with me or any other teacher

Level 3 - Reiki Teacher (Master Level)

Level 3 is the last level of initiation of the Usui Reiki method.
There are two basic options:

1. For personal practice - Initiation into Level 3 and learning the 4th symbol, the Master Symbol which can be used in different ways to enhance the potential for transformation and delve even deeper into the healing process. This is a direct continuation of the work of Levels 1 and 2.

2. For teaching - Initiation and learning the 4th symbol as mentioned above, and in addition learning how to initiate and teach Reiki to others. This option is for those who have a personal wish and inclination to share this method with others through transmission of initiation and teaching. Being a Reiki teacher is on its own very powerful learning process.

The choice depends on your feeling and peronal needs and can be discussed with me if you wish.

Level 3 will be a course created by you and me, student and teacher, on an individual basis. Together we can build a program that will fit your needs, based on your personal path of healing and transformation, while addressing any relevant issues, private or professional. The program will reflect your own intentions, needs and aspirations.

The program may include:

  - observation and assistance in couses of Level 1 and Level 2

  - observation and assistance in Reiki treatment sessions

  - teaching methodology

  - practices for self-cultivation, such as meditation, breathing techniques, qi gong, tai chi, yoga, nutrition, etc.

  - a personal diagnosis and treatment of relevant issues

  - coping with the personal healing process of body, mind and spirit

Prerequisite for Level 3: Completion of Reiki Level 2 course with me or any other teacher and a personal meeting with me.

Reiki Therapist
5 days (30 hours)

Purpose - this course is aimed for those who have completed Reiki Level 2 have practiced and acquired an understanding of the Reiki method. It is for those who wish to delve deeper into their personal Reiki practice and working with others.

  - enhance your Reiki practice and your understanding of the method and its unlimited potential as a support for healing, for yourself and for others

  - learn a technique that involves a holistic healing process of past conditionings/traumas/patterns of body, mind and spirit

  - develop a deeper understanding of the Chakra Energy System

  - in the course, practice will focus on intuitive/guided work

  - introduction to additonal diagnostic tools (scanning, pendulum)

In this course we focus on the the question of being a therapist, a facilitator, supporting the healing process of another by adressing topics such as - the therapeutic environment, therapist ethics, patient-therapist dynamics and self-cultivation of the therpaist.

Prerequisite for Reiki Therapist: Completion of Reiki Level 2 with me or any other teacher.

General Points

All courses will include some practices to cultivate general well-being, self-awareness, relaxation and harmonization of body and mind, such as meditation, grounding and Qi Gong.

A general recommendation - It is beneficial to allow a certain time period between levels (21-day cleansing is a good minimum, 3 months is beneficial) for integration, practice and understanding of what you have learned and experienced. This depends on your feeling and personal needs. This can be discussed on an individual basis with me if you wish. If the time is right you will know it!

Old Students - For those who have learned Reiki with me before and would like to assist or re-do a course, please contact me in advance and we can check the different options. Most welcome!

Reiki Treatments - Before taking a course, it can be worhtwhile to receive a treatment to feel and experience what Reiki is about. Treatments can also be beneficial for general relaxation and harmonization or for specific problems.
