...an invitation to a personal encounter with nature's elements, to experience how their energy vibrates and resonates in and around you...
7-day intensive course What is Wu Xing?In China the word 'wu' means 'five' and the word 'xing' means 'walkings'. Wu Xing literally means "Five Walkings", which indicates a characteristic of movement connected to the different qualities of Qi (energy). The word 'xing' can also be understood as 'phases' or 'elements'. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Wu Xing is the term used to describe the theory of the Five Phases or Five Elements which along with the theory of yin/yang is the basic philosophy of TCM. The five nature elements are - Earth, Fire, Water, Wood and Metal. The study of Wu Xing is the study of relationships in nature. It differentiates between the various vibrational qualities of Qi (energy) which manifest in the universe. The ancient Chinese observed these relationships in nature and applied them to the dynamics of the human body and mind. They observed that these five phases, elements or forces describe different aspects of our energy - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. By experiencing the forces that govern the cycles of change ocurring in the external world around us we can see how they are duplicated within ourselves, on the levels of body, mind and spirit. The same forces that affect our physical, sensory and perceptual body affect the emotional, intellectual and spiritual life of our being. Understanding the cyclic nature and characteristics of these forces, momentary and lifelong, can asssit us to map the processes of evolution and comprehend our own unfolding.
